Challenges Addressed by Us

Most notably, the client needed to create a custom interface to connect the telemedicine platform with EMRs and other medical solutions in the community. This was no easy feat, as it required a thorough understanding of HL7 – FHIR interface specifications. There were other challenges too. 

  • Ensure that the platform is secure and meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure that the platform is easy to use and can accommodate a variety of devices and platforms. 
  • Ensure that the platform is reliable and can handle high traffic volumes.

Fortunately, our team had extensive experience with .Net MVC and DB – MSSQl, which allowed them to build a robust, secure platform that could handle heavy traffic loads. They also chose Laravel as the backend framework, which provided considerable flexibility and ease of use.

What Plans & Solutions We Implemented?

The technology stack used was top-notch, and a lot of thought went into the design and development of this platform.

We implemented HTML/CSS for the front end, .Net MVC for the back end and database management, and Laravel for the application development. This allowed us to create a visually appealing and functionally sound platform.

Most importantly, our platform was designed to interface with EMRs and other medical solutions through HL7 – FHIR. This means that it can be easily integrated into existing health communities and provide patients with a more seamless experience.

Html/CSS, Javascript

We used HTML to create the platform’s structure, CSS to style the platform, and JavaScript to add interactivity. We created a responsive user interface for every panel (admin/doctor/staff/and patients) that would be compatible with various devices.

.Net MVC

We used .NET MVC to create a web-based interface for managing patient information, scheduling appointments, and tracking payments and insurance claims. Additionally, .Net MVC was used to create a custom reporting system that allows hospital/clinic staff to track key performance indicators and patient outcomes.


We knew hospitals would generate a large amount of data. We used DB-MSSQl to store patient data, track appointments, and manage billing and payments in real-time. Using the DB – MSSQl was a good choice, as it can provide several benefits, such as reliability and scalability, and handle a large amount of data without compromising platform performance.

The HL7-FHIR Interface for Connectivity

The HL7-FHIR interface provided a standardized technology platform to connect the entire healthcare data exchange ecosystem. It integrated the existing Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and other medical systems within the county. This streamlined patient data across different departments in a secure manner. This enabled the secure exchange of all vital information among doctors and patients while providing access to all medical details within the same timeline and reducing the chances of any inconsistencies or errors in diagnosis. The platform is also integrated with external APIs for authentication and communication.

Once we were clear about the technology stack, the next step was to divide the work so that everyone knew what they were responsible for. Throughout the development cycle, the client communicated weekly progress reports. Based on the feedback received, our team was always willing to make updates where necessary and adapt to project changes.

When the coding stage was complete, we tested the platform manually to ensure all the features worked adequately and met the hospital’s needs. We also created a simulated environment against a set of test data to ensure that the data was processed correctly.

Features of PG County Telehealth Platform

To ensure easy access for all users, this interface was implemented with an automated scheduling system that enabled the booking of real-time appointments from any device from anywhere in the world. 

Furthermore, this platform was designed to be interoperable with internal and external systems via a secure API layer, allowing seamless access to all relevant information.

In addition to the above, once registered, patients and providers get a personalized dashboard with information about upcoming appointments, past appointments, and current medications. 

A telehealth platform’s administrative features include adding and managing users, creating and managing groups, and assigning roles and permissions. Plus, the platform provides a secure login and password system and tracking and reporting features to help administrators keep track of usage and activity.
